The Los Angeles General Medical Center Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit established in 1993 to support the Los Angeles General Medical Center and ensure its status as a leader in health and medicine, community care, education and research. The Medical Center is one of the largest public hospitals in the country, providing full spectrum emergency, inpatient, and outpatient services from its campus in Boyle Heights to more than 200,000 patients a year.

The Los Angeles General Medical Center Foundation’s mission is to engage in fundraising to support facility projects, programs, and equipment, and to assist in educating the community surrounding Los Angeles General about services and care provided at the Los Angeles General Medical Center campus. They ensure the proper expenditure of public and private funds and assist in fundraising and applying for grants for the Wellness Center. The Foundation strives to address issues of health equity while improving patient care, population health, and reducing healthcare costs. The Foundation serves the most vulnerable of Los Angeles County, with particular focus on Medical Center patients, nearby residents of Los Angeles, Eastside neighborhoods, and the larger community of Los Angeles County that relies on the Medical Center and the Los Angeles County Integrated Health Agency for care. Many in our community experience complex barriers to good health that cannot be addressed in the doctor’s office or emergency room. Foundation activities focus on developing systems and services that enable these individuals to achieve and maintain good health by minimizing the many barriers impeding their way.
